Hi, Chef!

Hello fellow bakers!

Have you watched Chef Boy Logro on TV? He's one of the chefs that I look up to because of his humble beginnings and beyond. He's actually one of our principal sponsors in our wedding (though he was not able to attend because of his taping schedule). My husband was one of his students at Chef Logro's Institute of Culinary & Kitchen Services Inc. in GMA, Cavite. I was able to sit in one of his classes.

He easily earned my admiration and respect. He shared his story that he started as a houseboy in Quiapo and was not able to finish high school. Years after, he found himself working as the personal chef of the King of Oman and eventually became the first Executive Chef in the Philippines.

Chef Boy really loves to dance while cooking, making the task entertaining. He also loves to tell stories to inspire his students. But what I loved most about him is his humility. He best showed his humility by calling his students, “Chefs”.

How does one become a chef? Some would say you need experience and certification. Some would say you need to be a pro in cooking or baking. But for Chef Logro, anyone in the kitchen who’s eager to learn and serve good food is a chef.

And I want to follow his example. So starting today, let’s call each other chef. Regardless of degree, skills, or experience, we are all chefs because we choose to cook or bake with love.

Just like Chef Boy, let’s not stop with the love for our craft. He loved cooking so he persevered to learn more. Let us also do our best to improve in baking by reading more, practicing more (and failing sometimes), and acquiring more skills. So that at the end of the day, we’ll have no regrets and we’ll be able to call ourselves executive chefs of our own home kitchens, restaurants or bakeshops.

Looking forward to your success, Chef.

xoxo,

Chef Tin
